Part 1 The First Passover and exodus from Egypt.- Jesus the Passover Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

  1. Part 1 The First Passover and exodus from Egypt. Jesus the Passover Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world

Introduction
  1. This week is a very special week in the Christian year.  It is the week that we reflect on what the Lord Jesus Christ did for us by dying on the cross as an Atonement for our sins.  As well as celebrating His glorious resurrection and looking forward to His coming again.
  2. I have decided to write a blog about these things and their link to the first Passover that the Israelites had before they were set free from slavery in Egypt.
  3. The posts will be broken down into the different parts beginning with the first Passover and ending with the interlude between the two comings of Christ.
  4. I have taken these parts from a longer article on the Atonement that begins in the Garden of Eden and ends in the New Heaven and Earth.
  5. I will put the full article as a blog post later on under the heading the Importance of the Atonement or Life is in the blood.
  6. However I will give a shorter version of this article as I only want to focus on the Lord's death and resurrection giving a background of how this relates to the first Passover.
  7. I will include some other items too of interest to help give some more depth to what I will post.

Headings for the posts on the Lord's death and Resurrection.

Part 1 The First Passover and exodus from Egypt - The importance of Atonement and Passover Jesus being born the human Lamb of God

Exodus 12:21-25
21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
23 For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the Lord will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.

The First Passover Exodus 12
The people of Israel suffered under Pharaoh as Egypt’s slaves for 400 years and God heard their cries and groaning for deliverance.  He sent the man Moses (he was a type of Christ) to be their shepherd, prophet and prince over them to deliver them from the house of bondage.
God with an outstretched arm delivered the people of Israel from Egypt He did this by sending ten plagues upon Egypt the last plague being the death of the firstborn males of both men and flocks and herds.
This first Passover is the forerunner of Christ being our ultimate Passover from the House of sin and bondage to sin which is death; the wages of sin is death
Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Christ became our sin bearer the scapegoat and sin atonement.
All of the sacrifices given to Israel speak of Christ and the laws regarding the first born speak of Him too.

Part 1a A You Tube Clip showing the Exodus
Before reading the next section have a look at this following You Tube clip on the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt it is only 6 minutes long.
It is very good the only thing I found really lacking is they didn’t really show clearly the blood of a lamb being put on the lintels of the houses of the Israelites.  Nor did they show clearly this blood being there when the angel of death passed over the houses. It just paned over this very quickly and it was hard to tell if there was anything on the doorposts.
Though if you put the clip on pause you may just make out something crimson on the doorposts it is a bit hazy and you need to look closely at it to see it.
Even though this is a brief YouTube clip they should have focused a bit more on the actual Passover ie the people daubing the doorposts and lintel with the blood of a lamb or kid.
Even if you don’t see them killing the animal just show them putting the blood on the doorposts and lintel and then showing the angel of the Lord passing over the houses with the blood on the doorposts and killing those who are not under the blood.
This action is important for this is the crux of what the Passover is all about God killing the firstborn of men and animals in Egypt and thereby from this death of the firstborn the Israelites are literally driven from Egypt.
So this makes me wonder why this was done like this and could they the people who made this clip skip over this important fact because somehow they know the blood on the doorposts also represents the poured out blood of Jesus on the cross?
The rest of the clip is very good and I recommend watching it to get some idea of how God raised up Moses and sent him to deliver Israel as a nation from Egypt and the effects of the plagues on the Egyptians.
Here is the clip.

Part 1b Refuting the Lie that the Israelites were just Runaway Slaves
I will now deal with in depth the lie that is going around churches today that the Israelites were just runaway slaves.
Please take note the Israelites were not runaway slaves as many churches are now starting to teach this lie.  They were set free from the house of bondage by God delivering them in a mighty way.
This was done through His killing off the firstborn of the male children and livestock of Egypt.
He had the Israelites put the blood of the Passover on their doors so that the Angel of Death can Passover them, hence the name Passover for this momentous event in Israel’s history.
Also if the Israelites were just runaway slaves they would not have been able to leave Egypt in such a victorious way, they would not have been able to plunder the Egyptians by taking clothes, jewellery and other items from the Egyptians.
They took from them simply by asking them to give to them these things.
Exodus 11:2-4
2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver and jewels of gold.
3 And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.
4 And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
Exodus 12:35-36
35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:
36 And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
In fact after the death of the firstborn both of the male children from Pharaoh down to the slave girl and their livestock the Egyptians were virtually thrusting the Israelites out for fear of being totally wiped out themselves Exodus 11:1-12:51.
Exodus 11:1, 5-7
1 And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
Exodus 12:29-33
29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as ye have said.
32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.
33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.
God led His hosts out of Egypt see Exodus 12:51 and Exodus 13:14-16 this was to be a lesson for the Israelites to teach their children down through the ages.  This was a lesson for them to remember this night forever how God delivered His people out of Egypt by a mighty right hand how He led forth His hosts out of Egypt that is He led forth the people of Israel out of Egypt in triumph.
Exodus 12:51
51 And it came to pass the selfsame day that the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
Exodus 13:14-16
14 In days to come, when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ say to him, ‘With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed the firstborn of both people and animals in Egypt. This is why I sacrifice to the LORD the first male offspring of every womb and redeem each of my firstborn sons.’ 16 And it will be like a sign on your hand and a symbol on your forehead that the LORD brought us out of Egypt with his mighty hand.”
If they were runaway slaves they would not have gotten far if they ran away in their own strength and not only that a whole nation of people would not have been able to run away in this way.  One or two perhaps but not a host of people nearly a million people left Egypt.
If they were just runaways without God’s help Pharaoh and his army would have easily recaptured the people and simply put some of them to death and made others slaves again doing more hard labour.
No God totally wiped out Pharaoh’s army by destroying him and his army at the crossing of the Red Sea.
God kept the Israelites apart from the Egyptians by moving Himself between the army of Pharaoh and the Israelites in the pillar of cloud and fire and the Angel of the Lord was present too at their head.
He kept them apart so that the Israelites could cross the Red Sea safely and then He God caused the sea to come back upon itself to drown the pursuing Egyptians
 Exodus 13:21-22
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
Exodus 14:5-31
5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
8 And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, standstill, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever.
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses.
So whoever is teaching this lie from hell is not reading the scriptures thoroughly in the book of Exodus, they either have an Anti-Semitic attitude or they have an Antichrist spirit for if you think this lie through to its end.
You will see how It undermine the truth of the Passover that it did happen the way the book of Exodus describes it happening and it also denies the Passover of our Lord upon the cross for our sins.
For our Lord Jesus Christ is our Passover and He fulfilled the Passover that the first Passover in Egypt was looking forward to the time Christ (God the Son ) was to come to earth from heaven to be born as a man to die on the cross.
Jesus even partook of the Passover meal with His disciples it was not the last Supper but the last Passover that Christ ate with His disciple this was His last Passover on earth that He ate with them.
He was not going to eat it again until He comes again and then He will eat it in His kingdom on earth in Jerusalem Luke 22:15-16.
Christ was following in full the Israelite tradition of eating the Passover meal and remembering the time that God delivered the Israelites out of Egypt.
Being the Angel of the Lord before His birth He was there and helped them to escape out of the house of bondage.
The Passover meal He was eating with His disciples was to be a new Passover.  For He Himself was going to be the human Lamb of God on the cross for mankind’s sins so that His blood will cover men’s hearts and the wrath of God will Passover men’s lives spiritually.
Not just blood on doorposts to save a fledgling nation but blood on men’s hearts to save men and women and yes the Israelite people too for His blood was shed for all people to spare them eternal separation from God.
Jesus in His last Passover initiated a New Covenant that instead of an animal giving its life for a person Jesus being God and God the Son was giving His pure sinless blood allowing it to be poured out on the cross for all of humanity and the nation of Israel.
For countless times in the book of Isaiah God says to His people He is the redeemer of Israel, that He is their King and their redeemer or Savior and through the cross He became their redeemer and Savior and He is their King.
For Jesus was born King of the Jews and He had this inscription put above His head on the cross.
References:  Isaiah 43:11-15,  Isaiah 44:6 24, Isaiah 47:3, Isaiah 48:17, 20, Isaiah 49:1-26, John 19:19
So if you hear your pastor, bible teacher whether in church no matter what denomination or you hear your lecturer at Bible college say that the Israelites were just runaway slaves when they left Egypt please rebuke them but correct them in love.
Please explain to them, that what they are teaching is a lie and show them these notes and from the word why what they are saying is not correct but a lie.
Also ask them why they are saying/ teaching this and where did they hear this from?
For it comes from the devil himself as he is always trying to discredit what Jesus did on the cross and what God did for His people Israel and the devil is always trying to discredit the Bible as being authentic and the authoritative word of God.
No truth is not just what you make of it Truth is in God’s Holy Scriptures and truth is the person of Jesus Christ He is truth in person and he is God.
You must stand up for these truths or else the devil will have you denying anything to do with God and cause you to doubt that God and Jesus are real and that Jesus died for you.
This lie is so subtle that you will think oh yes they are just runaway slaves the Israelites and you may not realize that this lie has greater ramifications in denying the truth of both the Passover of Egypt and the Passover of our Lord for our sins on the cross.
In fact now they are now denying that we have need of a personal savior which is another con job of satan to get people ready for his false Messiah who will soon take over the world.

 Who may eat the Passover?
Exodus 12:43-51
43 And the Lord said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof:
44 But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.
45 A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof.
46 In one. house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof
47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it.
48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
49 One law shall be to him that is home born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
50 Thus did all the children of Israel; as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
51 And it came to pass the selfsame day that the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
The Passover was to be eaten only by the native born children of Israel who are of the House of Abraham through his grandson Jacob (aka Israel) and who are of the covenant of circumcision that God made with Abraham.
Genesis 17 gives a full account of this covenant God makes with Abraham and how Isaac was born into this covenant between God and Abraham.
The Passover was the means by which God redeemed the children of Israel from Egypt the House of bondage, He redeemed the first born males and animals to be His as a ransom.
The animals were to be sacrificed unto the Lord the clean animals and the male born children were to be redeemed Exodus 13:11-15.
In regards to keeping and eating the Passover in the future when the people of Israel were living in the Promised land the Covenant land that God gave to Abraham only the native born people can eat of it.
The servant that was bought with money can keep it after he has been circumcised and also a stranger can keep the Passover only after he too had been circumcised.
This ordinance was given by God as the people of Israel left Egypt and before God gave the Law to Moses at Mt Sinai.
Circumcision was a sign that these people belonged to God and were part of the Household of faith or covenant that God made with Abraham and was affirmed to Abraham’s son Isaac and grandson Jacob.
They belonged to the family of people that God had chosen for Himself from among the nations Deuteronomy 7:6-10, Deuteronomy 32:8-9, Jeremiah 10:16,  Zechariah 2:12
Jesus too belongs to this Household for He too was circumcised on the eighth day Luke 2:21.
No foreigner or stranger can keep this ordinance unless they were first circumcised and only then could they partake of the Passover.
So the first part of this redemptive ordinance was only for the physical House of Israel.
People either had to be born into this House to have the right of partaking of the Passover or to be bought by money as servants or they willingly partook if they were strangers living in the land but they had to abide by the condition of being circumcised before they could partake of the Passover.  They had to come into the House of Israel and join with them by this means.
It was exclusive and not open to all nations or all people.  Its benefits were limited to one nation group not open to all nations or people at this stage.

Next blog post will be Part 2 Jesus the Passover Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

The gap between the two resurrections and the two judgments of Christ judging the living and the dead

The gap between the two resurrections and the two judgments of Christ judging the living and the dead I am writing this article on the gap...
